Working hard is important
but it’s not always the smartest thing to do.
Sometimes, starting with simple, low-effort tasks can already bring significant benefits.
In this case, I believe there are a few low-effort actions you can take to noticeably boost your LinkedIn profile.
1️⃣ Interact with other posts
Remember: LinkedIn is a product designed to maximize user engagement.
You’ll likely never fully understand how its algorithm works behind the scenes—and reverse-engineering it may not even be worth the effort, especially considering how frequently it changes.
But one thing you can assume is this:
👉 If you never interact with others, LinkedIn will eventually choose to hide you.
Why is that? 🤔
All feed-based platforms go through 3 classic stages:
Step 1: In its early phase, the platform simply shows content in chronological order. This is a super democratic approach—everyone is treated equally. What matters is how recent you posted.
Step 2: Eventually, a ranking system is introduced. This requires more effort to implement and typically comes after an initial phase where the platform “learns” what interests its users. This step also enables ads and sponsored content, but the core goal is still relevance.
Step 3: Once the platform scales, it becomes impossible to show everything. So the algorithm starts applying filters: shadow-banning, quality thresholds, impression limits. It begins to decide whether your content deserves to be shown—or sacrificed.
LinkedIn is clearly in Step 3 now, with over 1 billion users and more than 310 million monthly active users (a crazy-high percentage of its total base).
Now you can understand why being inactive can make you "disposable" in the eyes of the algorithm.
So what should you do?
✅ React to posts.
✅ Leave thoughtful comments.
✅ Stay visible.
2️⃣ Turn off private mode
One of LinkedIn’s most iconic features is the “Who viewed your profile” notification.
And yet, many people enable private mode—out of embarrassment or fear of being noticed.
Here’s how I picture it:
User A is scared, and enables private mode.
User B is visible, but too proud to visit anyone.
User C embraces the platform and visits profiles freely.
You want to be User C.
You're on a social network. Your goal is visibility and opportunity. Hiding yourself—or avoiding others—works against that.
3️⃣ Visit other profiles (on purpose)
Don’t just leave private mode off—actively visit other people’s profiles.
Why?
Think about what happens when someone views your profile.
You get curious, right?
You wonder:
Who is this person?
Why are they looking at me?
Should I check them out too?
Boom. Now you're in a micro-interaction loop.
Here’s what often happens:
A visits B
B feels more important now
B is curious to know more about A and why they visited them
B wouldn’t have visited A in first place, but now the barrier is broken
B visits A
In short:
The more attention you give, the more comes back to you.
Sometimes, this even leads to engagement on your posts. It's a simple, high-leverage move.
4️⃣ Verify your identity
We don’t yet know how much LinkedIn’s algorithm weighs profile verification…
…but I doubt that not being verified helps you.
It takes a few seconds, gives you a badge, and increases trust.
Just do it.
5️⃣ Record your name pronunciation
This is another small detail that helps you stand out—and creates a more human connection with your profile visitors.
Plus, it shows attention to accessibility and openness.
Why not take 10 seconds and add it?
⏱ All these actions take just a few seconds or minutes.
And the best part?
You can start doing them right now.
